Participants should wear comfortable gym-wear to class.
Gymnastic Leotards - Girls
Crop-tops and tank tops - Girls
T-shirts and singlets (must be tight-fitting) - Girls and boys
Bike pants and tights - Girls
Shorts (must be a stretch fabric) - Girls and boys
Winter - Crew-necked sloppy joe and track-pants (elasticized at the ankle) - Girls and boys
Clothes that are loose or oversized will HAVE to be tucked into pants. however are not permitted in general.
Gymnastics participate in bare feet, however footwear must be worn into the venue as the complex has industry that could mean class, metal shavings etc are on the ground / carpark.
Footwear worn into venue should be thongs, slides, crocs, ugg boots, which are easy to put on and remove for toilet visits (Especially for young children, so that they can manage their footwear without requiring help from staff).
Socks, if worn, must be clean (not have been worn all day at school). Grip socks are strongly advised.
Participants must cover any cuts, scrapes, corns, blisters, open wounds with medical dressings with Strapping tape to help secure.
Long hair should be tied up securely.
Jewellery of any kind must not be worn by any athletes. This includes chains, fit-bits, watches, and friendship bands. Respectfully we ask that religious jewellery is also removed.
The following items of clothing must NOT be worn:
Denim or other hard fabrics.
No jeans or hard fabric pants of any kind allowed – such as cargo pants.
Clothes with zippers, buttons, buckles or pockets.
Shorts and clothes should not have any ties, strings, or similar, hanging off them.
Skirts and dresses.
Large oversized t-shirt or swing tops.
Hoodies cannot be worn, as they are a choking hazard.
Please wear crew necked or collared outerwear – without zippers or hoodies.
Wide legged pants should not be worn – tracksuit pants allowed in winter - should be elasticized at the ankle.
Religious headwear should be tight fitting and not tied under the neck, or have flowing fabrics.
Socks that have been worn all day at school.
Club Leotard designs and styles are available for purchase, as are t-shirts, singlets, tracksuits etc. Students, with a competition leotard should wear it to training, as they are expensive and should be worn to get full use from the garment.'
Competitive athletes (Acrobatics and Tumbling) cannot wear casual gymwear to training. They MUST wear appropriate gymnastic-wear. If athletes prefer to wear a crop top this is permissible, however they must have a leotard as well to in case they need spotting. Singlet tops are not allowed unless they have thick straps and are tight fitting. Coaches reserve the right to not engage in spotting anyone who is not in a leotard, due to safety and also child protection reasons.
It is not acceptable to wear clothing with swearing, or inappropriate slogans or phrases that may be deemed as offensive or unsuitable for children, at any gymnastic training session. This also applies at an external competition or event, including friends and family members of the student in attendance.
In Winter, athletes should wear
Tight-fitting long sleeve tops under leotards
Long sleeved leotards and include
Long tights to keep legs warm
Fleecy tracksuit pieces:
Please ensure that pants are elasticized at the ankle as loose legged pants can cause tripping.
Crew neck fleecy sloppy joe / sweaters only to be worn. No hoodies should be worn.
Nails must be kept very short and fake nails should not be worn at any time, this includes competitions.
